11th Annual Discovery Ball

On Saturday, March 7, 2009 what happened at the California Science Center stayed at the Science Center—at least for that evening. The black-tie gala was an unforgettable experience, featuring special exhibit viewing of CSI: The Experience and Target America; a high-rollers cocktail reception with forensic science activities; elegant seated dinner complete with live auction and Vegas-style entertainment; and dancing and table action at the hottest night club on the strip. Despite the Vegas theme of the 2009 Discovery Ball, supporting the California Science Center Foundation is no gamble; it is a solid investment in a valuable community resource and important part of the state’s educational infrastructure. Gala Co-Chairs Tony Buzzelli of Deloitte and Alan Fohrer of Southern California Edison, along with the California Science Center Foundation, thank our generous donors for helping to achieve the $1.1 million revenue goal—another outstanding success in support of science learning for everyone!

This year’s Discovery Ball lived up to its reputation as a much-anticipated, high-profile philanthropic event known as one of the best parties in town. The gala has been dubbed “a virtual who’s who of the Los Angeles business community” by the Los Angeles Business Journal. Adding to the honors, BizBash has named the Discovery Ball among Southern California’s Top 100 Events and bestowed the title of Best Non-Profit Event Concept to the 2007 Star Wars themed affair.
